Inspired and designed for Ashley Longshore’s Lighting division of her brand
“My paintings are representative of the world I see around me. I am inspired by pop culture and things that I find intriguing. I really like to combine the use of words and images in an unexpected way to create a smart, colorful bold statement. Most importantly my love of color is what really makes my artwork “POP”. My paintings are statement pieces that are a reflection of the experiences I have in my life.” -Ashley Longshore

Logo Development for Ashley’s Lighting Division
Inspired by her playful, youthful designs, I wanted to create a brad that had the same character. A play on words by using “lit” in the name helps do just that.
Light fixture Brainstorming
The Audrey
I was immediately inspired by Ashley Longshore’s pieces of Audrey Hepburn. Growing up, I loved Audrey Hepburn. In my room I had pictures of her hanging up and I dressed up as her for Halloween multiple times. Naturally, I was drawn to Ashley’s paintings of her. The geometry in each of them was what I especially enjoyed. I wanted to design a light fixture inspired by each of these pieces.
While designing the light fixture, I kept noticing the contrast of straight geometric lines of her paintings against the organic curvature found in the head dresses and circles seen throughout her artwork. In order to achieve this in my design, I wanted to incorporate the geometry within the curvature. The three stacked spheres on top of one another creates a hierarchy within the piece and creates a break in the geometric spheres to add a “pop” of color as seen in Ashley’s works.
Choosing transparent spheres for the geometric designs to be displayed was in order to create cast shadows of the lines off of the fixture.
